Self-Identity Wheel Reflection For many Americans, our educational systems can provide great schools that students can attend in order to gain knowledge on subjects that they may be interest in. For sixteen years of my life I have gone through the public school system to get to the position I am at now, a college senior. Through my sixteen years of being a student, I have done a tremendous amount of growing, not only height wise, but also as an individual. The public school system has taught me a lot and played a huge role in shaping me into the college student I am today. I started out going to college in my hometown of Green Bay where are core symbol was the phoenix. While attending the University of Wisconsin Green Bay I felt like I was disconnected with my fellow college students. I had commuted to school each day and had to work right after class, so this left me with very little time to get involved on campus. The most interaction I had with my peers was in class or at the occa sional sporting event. After going through this for two years, I decided to expand my horizons by transferring to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Transferring to Whitewater, and becoming a warhawk, has put me in a position where I am constantly around other college students. It is human nature to have questions, questions about how the world came to be and questions of where mankind came from. In almost all societies and religions there are stories told of how the world began, these stories are known as creation stories or creation myths. Creation myths can give those reading them a better understanding of the values within the culture that they were created. The myth of creation explains the origin of the universe, describing how the world and its animate and inanimate entities were created (El-Asward, Garry, El-Shamy, 2005, p.24-31). A major similarity in each of the different creation stories is the idea of water as the elemental source of life.
